Jazz In Cookeville
About Us

The JAZZ IN COOKEVILLE Festival
is organized by jazz aficionado Dr. Mel Rapelyea, a local physician who founded the highly successful Chestertown Jazz Festival on the eastern shore of Maryland. After practicing medicine for over 20 years in Maryland, Dr. Rapelyea and three of his colleagues relocated to Cookeville a few years ago to staff the Department of Medical Imaging at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Dr. Rapelyea exemplifies a passion for the art of jazz. He notes that: “Jazz and the folks it brings together are what you look forward to whenever you can. The venue is soothing and the financial gains will promote the sciences and perpetuate WMOT.”

The Jazz In Cookeville Festival is designed to be a cultural experience for families so no alcohol or pets will be allowed, but you will want to be sure to bring lawn chairs and blankets. We'll have food vendors in booths to selling food and drinks. Oh, and in the event of rain, the festival will be moved to the Wattenbarger Auditorium on the Tennessee Tech Campus. "We hope to see you there!"
